Today was really awesome! Our January Hypnobabies series is all done, so now we just wait… patiently for babies. I look back on our past weeks and realize that even as the Instructor, I have learned so much. It is empowering for me to be able to share my stories and experiences with new (and first-time especially) moms and dads as they embark on this life changing journey.
I never would have guessed that this is where I would be now back when I found out I was going to have my first baby. The knowledge that I gained from Hypnobabies, the power of understanding that I was in charge of my destiny (and my unborn daughter’s) gave me so much confidence to really look forward to my birthing day with excitement and assurance, NEVER fear or trepidation. I only hope that these last several weeks have equipped our newest Hypno-families with that same attitude. Being able to give tools of ease and comfort in what many have long described as a torturous or difficult event gives me faith that as a Childbirth Educator (specifically Hypnobabies) I really am helping to change the view of birth.
Birth is natural, and wonderful, and amazing and extraordinary, and so much more! Birth builds families, and creates bonds that tie us together forever and ever, amen. As a doula my goal is to support my families wishes to really enjoy the birth of their child(ren) and be fully in tune with their bodies, souls, and minds. I get a little teary now as think of the upcoming birth of little Mackenzie Smith, my first Hypno-baby expected to be born from a graduate of this series. She is going to change the world (if only that of her parents and surrounding family) and her birth day will also change mine.
Today I was able to allow our Hypno-Couples to really imagine what using hypnosis for childbirth will be like with all of the tools from Hypnobabies. Our Birth Rehearsals in Class 6 are not only a hallmark of our course, but are so much fun!!! I hope that Hypno-Dads all felt reassured of their roles and relaxed by their partners comfort. They are going to do so great on their big day, and I KNOW that they will give their Hypno-Moms exactly what they need to remain comfortable and relaxed during their entire birthing time!
I could go on rambling, but for now I will sign off. I can’t believe that this is my ‘JOB’ and I owe so many thanks for that. Thank you to Mike (my fiance), Marlowe (really it was all you!), Mom, Kerry (Founder/Director of Hypnobabies), Stephanie (my midwife that introduced me to hypnosis for childbirth) and to Stephanie (my Hypnobabies Instructor), and to my current students as well as all you future students of mine. Adventures In Childbirth begins with YOU! Actually it begins with ‘A’ not ‘U’, but I digress…
