Kenisha (in Gwinnett County) is birthing her 6th baby, after taking her first Hypnobabies Class!
As Hypnobabies Instructors, we get a lot of questions from 2nd (and 3rd, and 4th, etc) time moms about the course content. They all want to know the same thing – if it is “worth it” for them to take the class since they already know all of the birth/baby education stuff? It seems like they all have the same idea that they should “just do the home-study” so that they can skip the education parts and go right to the hypnosis part “the part they don’t know.” So, I have asked some veteran Instructors for their input…
- People take Hypnobabies classes with their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, babies… all the time who have never done so with other babies. They have ALL said at different points in the Hypnobabies course, “I wish I had known THAT with the other pregnancies and births!”
- ‘Repeat offender’ doula clients should repeat Hypnobabies classes, since they will do much better sitting in on the classes a second time, rather than ‘just refreshing the hypnosis part of the course’, and they’ve been through it all BEFORE.
- Many, many moms take the class with 2nd to 7th babies. They all learn new things about childbirth that proved helpful. A 7th time mom, is going to be having her 8th and is planning on taking the class again. If that isn’t a testimonial as to it doesn’t matter how many babies you have had, the information is still important to learn, I don’t know what is!
- Yes, it is worth taking our entire course, no matter how many children a woman has had before. There’s also no choice but to do so if they want to learn Hypnobabies, since we don’t abbreviate Hypnobabies in any way, including no “refresher” courses. “All that childbirth education stuff” works together with our hypnosis techniques and cues, and reminds them of things they need to *remember* as well as actually..yes!…teaching them things they never knew before! Many “experienced” parents have said, “Wow – I didn’t even know that…and I’ve had (fill in the #) children!”
- Recently, a 6th time mom took the class and posted her birth story on this website: http://yourperfectbirth.com/birth-stories-2/. Her others were all natural births, the first at a hospital and the rest at home–she was a very informed momma to begin with. She still found Hypnobabies so helpful and was so proud of her Hypnobabies birth.
- A midwife at a birth center gave birth to her 6th baby using Hypnobabies, and she said, “the difference was night and day!” Again, a VERY informed mom who found the live Hypnobabies class so helpful!
