A local cloth diapering Mama discovered that her son’s diaper rash was the cause of yeast living in cloth diapers. Have you had a similar occurance? Anyone have a surefire yeast eradication plan?
Here are a couple of ideas that were offered:
- We put a cap full of tea tree oil in the hot wash
every other time we wash diapers. That combined with sun drying knocked the
yeast rash out. - We had the same issue and stripped them per the BumGenius’ instructions
using bleach (I only did this once). I also started doing vinegar rinses
(add about a cup in the rinse cycle) which is supposed to make the diapers
less hospitable for the yeast. That may void your warranty though. In
addition to tea tree oil, you can also use grapefruit seed extract. But
most importantly. .. sun, sun, sun those diapers!
