I was mingling with some of the amazing Birth Professionals this week at a Desserts and Doulas event when I met Milissa of Birth Story Photo. Milissa is an expectant Mama and a formally trained photographer. I, of course, wanted to learn more about her and I am sharing it with you here…

I am a wife to my Ukrainian husband and mother to my son and our baby due August 2013. I received my professional photography training at Hallmark Institute of Photography in Massachusetts years after completing my Bachelors’ degrees from Rollins College.

I offer Maternity, Birth, Newborn and Baby Shower photography in the Metro Atlanta area. So basically anything surrounding the celebration of birth—I am all about it. The Birth session gets special attention because I offer the mothers to share their birth story to accompany my photos on my blog. I always have found it helpful to read birth stories, because no birth is the same as another.

Birth Story Photo is a new brand of photography for me since having my son. Before his birth I was dabbling in a little bit of all sorts of photography in Orlando, Florida. I rebranded focusing on Birth after a year of researching why my son’s birth resulted in a Cesarean. I discovered that I was not the only woman having an unnecessary cesarean; in fact it is somewhat an epidemic. I decided I wanted to offer my talent in photography to promote awareness for better maternal and infant care to better birth in this country. What better way to do that than to see and read the birth stories of women just like you and I?

I am going for my own VBAC this August, so once I have my baby I will be unavailable for a few months. I am looking for clients that are due now and up until early August!
